Mark Sandler is the Director of the Center for Library Initiatives at the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC). He is interested in how libraries, publishers and users are managing the transition from print to electronic resources, with particular focus on the collaborative efforts of libraries to extend their mission to include content creation. He was a founder of the Text Creation Partnership, and has worked closely with the Google Books Project and the HathiTrust Digital Library. In recent years, he has written and spoken widely about the business culture of libraries, including their marketing, sales, and promotional cultures. Mark holds a Ph.D. in sociology from Michigan State University and an MLS from the University of Michigan.
