Beth Caruso

UNC Charlotte
Library Research Assistant & Writing Program Lecturer
Charlotte, NC
Beth Caruso is from New Orleans, but currently lives in Charlotte, NC. Since graduating with an English MA in 2010, she has been teaching First-Year Writing at UNC Charlotte. She has recently given up her administrative position as Associate Director of the UNC Charlotte Writing Resources Center in order to concentrate on library studies.

She is in her third year of the MLIS program at the University of South Carolina, Columbia. Although she plans to enter into the academic sector of library work upon graduation, she hopes to one day work on archiving and preservation projects as well and looks forward to any collaborations between the two concentrations.

As a supplement to her studies, she is also working as a research assistant for the Mellon-funded Charlotte Initiative: Principles for Permanent Acquisition of eBooks for Academic Libraries, which is what has brought her to the 2015 and 2016 Charleston Library Conference.

Her research interests include User Experience and Usability, Knowledge Management and Copyright, Information Ethics, Transfer, Writing Center Theory and Practice, Narratives of the Circus, Gothic Literature, and Creative Writing.
